Toast Maine’s Bicentennial this month with Maine beer
Allagash Brewing Company, based right here in Portland, has achieved national acclaim for its beer. Among their creations is Sixteen Counties, a beer that uses exclusively grains grown right here in Maine.
With 2020 the year of Maine’s 200th birthday, what better way to celebrate than by lifting a glass of a beer that’s brewed by Mainers and with Maine ingredients? Perhaps you can even sing a round of ‘The 16 Counties’ song while you enjoy a glass.
What To Expect From Sixteen Counties
Since first launching in the mid-2010s, 16 Counties has been offered in several iterations. This year’s offering has an ABV of 6.5%, making it a medium-strength beer but with plenty of flavor.
As described by Allagash, Sixteen Counties “has an amber hue with notes of honey, tropical hops, citrus, and a hint of cereal grain. The beer’s malt-forward flavor is meant to showcase the next generation of quality farming in Maine.”
