Part of what makes coming to Bruno’s a great experience is the hardworking staff behind the scenes. As a way to say thanks, we like to recognize a member of the team by highlighting them individually. This time, we would like to highlight Diane Pike.
Diane has been part of the Bruno’s team for nearly two decades. During her early years here, she spent some time as the dining room manager, but realized what she really enjoys is being in the dining room, getting to know customers and seeing them smile. Customers like it when she’s out on the floor working, too – she has a loyal group of regulars who come in when she is on the schedule. And when Diane’s regular shift changes, her customers will make the change with her, too — just to make sure they get a seat at one of her tables.
When customers ask her for recommendations, though, she finds it hard to answer. Usually she’ll tell them that it’s too hard to provide a suggestion because there are just too many good options on the menu to choose from. After her shift, however, Diane usually enjoys a dish of chicken picatta or linguine with clam sauce. She, too, is Italian, and loves that Bruno’s uses premium butter, oils, and creams in their food, something that she knows the customers appreciate. She’s also thrilled that she can now buy Bruno’s ravioli to take home and make herself.
As dedicated as she is to Bruno’s, it’s not Diane’s only job. She has also worked as a cosmetologist part-time since 1972. But if you ask her what her most important job is, she’ll always proudly say being a grandmother. Diane spends as much time as she can with her grandkids, enjoying their time together no matter the activity. “Our time together is so precious,” she says.
We’ve loved working with Diane for the past two decades, and look forward to many more years serving up delicious food and smiling service with her!
